Thanks for doing this. It’s really awesome. Also, thanks for bringing back a great memory I have of seeing Karl Blau and Rob Walmart in Eugene at one of the first good house shows i attended in high school. It was fucking rad. I wonder if I still have that Marriage Records comp somewhere. Can’t seem to like this album more than I already do. Every time anyone is ever in the car when I’m playing this always asks about it and jamz out hard. “They’re really called Gross Magic?”
“Yeah, and the album is called ‘TEEN JAMZ’”.
“Woah.”
I’ve had that conversation probably 10 times.

The Weeknd. Notes from last night’s show:
- Abel was beaming with joy the whole show.
- His voice is sooooo killer.
- I hate the Roseland Theater.
- His live band was boring, and cheesy. They are obviously talented players, the drums were there, but the vibe was gone. For example, the spaced-out ambient guitar solo at the end of “The Knowing” was replaced with a straight-up Guns N’ Roses riff.
- Abel was beaming with joy the whole show. I know I already said that, but it’s true. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen such an impassioned crowd either, he didn’t even need a backing track because the audience was on that.
- The place was packed with Weekend-Warriors. (That’s what we call the burbies who come go downtown to party on the weekends.) SO many YOUNG KIDS! That was crazy.
- I never want to go to The Roseland again. (Except for maybe tomorrow to see J-Phenom.) It’s a bad sign when the sound guy is rolling his eyes, and actively not listening to the music. Dude. Wow. I hate the Roseland so much.
- I LOVE THE WEEKND AND (apparently) SO DOES EVERY HIGH SCHOOLER IN THE PORLAND METRO.

Reva DeVito and Roane Namuh totally surpassed my expectations with their show last night at Mississippi Studios! Woah, guys! Way to make pdx step the game up!
And, PS: going to see The Weeknd tonight, yeah, that. (!!!!!!!!!!!)
